LANGKAWI, MALAYSIA- THE ANDAMAN, A LUXURY COLLECTION RESORT

THE ANDAMAN, A LUXURY COLLECTION RESORT!
Hello once again my Fellow Relaxed Travellers!

Phew! It's been so long since my last post, I think it's quite dusty around here! It has been a very busy time for all of us with loads of happy events going around! Have been planning for a long trip around Europe in a few months time as well! Traveller J & I really needed a beach break for our minimoon and didn't want much fuss. We finally settled on Langkawi in Malaysia! Langkawi is on the Northwestern shore of  Malaysia and is a archipelago of Langkawi islands. Mountains, forests and beaches is what you will see upon arrival! It was a simple and definitely relaxing Holiday indeed! We chose to stay at The Andaman, considering that it was a distance away from the mainland Langkawi (meaning-more peace & relaxation!, just around 40 mins away from the airport by taxi.), the beach looks beautiful and is close to the hotel rooms ,and the rooms look cosy & modern! We definitely had no regrets coming here!:D

-Days:3 nights 4 days (I wanted to stay for 4 Nights, but our flights couldn't match up right as we had somewhere else to go after! 4 N or 5 N would be good!)

-Cost:  The hotel should be around $SGD200 ish (maybe around $SGD 230-250 a night). We spent quite a bit on food there. PIG OUT TIME!:D

-Flight: Air Asia
I took Air Asia from Singapore as the timing was perfect for us and they fly more frequent than Singapore Airlines. Surprisingly, AirAsia was really good! I was a little wary at first, as I have heard that Air Asia delay all the time, However, our trip to and fro left on the dot! It was around $SGD 100 ish pp return! We chose a hot seat as well, as we wanted to have that tiny bit of space to move our legs!
The Flight takes around 1 hr 30 mins only!

-Resort:
The Andaman, A Luxury Collection Resort (The Andaman)
Jalan Teluk Datai, Langkawi, 07000, Malaysia

The Andaman is surrounded by natural surroundings which date to almost 600 million years, as told by the hotel. We originally booked a Deluxe Rainforest room, however was upgraded to the Luxury Sea View rooms and We LOVED the room!! Were we glad we got upgraded!! I love hotel rooms with a view! It sparks my excitement mode to 100000000%!:D Upon arrival by taxi, we passed by the resort, and from the outside, the resort looks a tiny dated. Probably needs some touch up to the exterior. However, have no fear! When we got in, the lobby was really spacious and nice! The check in staff were really friendly and offered us a really cold refreshing welcome drink made up of Ginger and pandan leaf( if i remembered correctly) and cold towels as well! The check in staff also provided us a map on arrival and explained about the different activities they have in the hotel, the location of the restaurants, and etc.
Our room was simply perfect! If I had to say, one of the best! Great view and easy access to the quiet, peaceful part of the beach! The bed was comfy, and at nights, you could hear the gentle waves rolling in, a great lullaby for a great sleep at night!:D As it was our minimoon, the staff at Andaman had 2 swans on the bed made up of towels!

A wonderful surprise in our room!

A sofa just by the window with a beautiful view!

Itinerary:

Upon arrival at Langkawi Airport, we saw a taxi booth (Langkawi Taxi Service) just before getting out of the airport and got tickets for a cab. The process was safe and easy! No getting cheated by cabs as the fare was RM60 for one way to our resort. Our driver- Zainol (No: 0194172588) was really nice, and the taxi service also offers tours and all! He was very informative and told us what we could do in Langkawi.

Okay, I know normal people would stay nearer to the city, hire a taxi for a day or two and tour around Langkawi islands.. That's what we wanted to do upon arrival.. However, when we got to the hotel and chilled by the beach and in our room for a day, we didn't want to leave the resort at all! Ha!

If you do want to get around, I suggest you rent a car, or ask the tours or the taxi driver that brought you to your hotel to come back and bring you around for a tour. Grab a langkawi map at the airport! The top places to go:
1. Langkawi Cable car
2. Cave of bats
3. Waterfalls- Durian Perangin Waterfall( Our taxi driver told us that there will always be water at this waterfall), Temurun Waterfall ( We passed by this waterfall and it was totally dry in June when we were there), Seven Wells Waterfall (Was also told by our taxi driver that this will be dry during non-rainy periods)
4. Black sand beach
5. Eagle Square
6. Crocodile Farm
7. ETC...Also, Seafooood!!!!

Although we didn't assign a day to tour, our taxi driver brought us to have a look at the cable car and the Temurun Waterfall, which was sadly totally dry!

Cable car from afar!

If I were to come again! I think I'll probably try the cable car, the eagle feeding and the Durian Waterfall!

However, No regrets for Traveller J & I this trip! We totally enjoyed ourselves and loved every moment of our time at the hotel by the Andaman sea!:D
When we arrived, I was superbly excited by the beautiful room and just so happen, a monkey climbed by the tree next to our balcony! At The Andaman Hotel, You will see monkeys, squirrels, iguanas(not sure if its one or something that looks like it!) birds, and all sort of nature! They offered daily nature walks in the day and night, however, we decided not to go for that as we have seen quite a few little animals around!

Shortly after our arrival, The Andaman Hotel had Champagne & Chocolates delivered to our roomn for our celebration! Wohoo! Can't get any better! Champagnes & Chocolates while sitting at the sofa, looking out into the sea- Perfect!

Our daily routine at Langkawi at The Andaman was Eat, Chill at the beach, Chill in the Beautiful Room, Back to the Beach/ Pool for a swim, Cocktails at happy hour (5-6PM) and Eat once again! The beach is beautiful and if you go to the main area, the waves are stronger and we saw a few people with body boards surfing the mini waves! Traveller J & I had some fun there as well!
For the beach area just outside our room (North Wing) , the waves are calmer, and more peaceful for relaxing and taking a dip in the sea! I really recommend you to stay at the North Wing of the resort at this time. The South Wing looks a little dated & deserted, however I think they are renovating some parts of the hotel! On our last day, the water was so clear we saw tiny fishes swimming around us so near at the shore!

My Favourite Area of the beach!

Beautiful Sunset!
There were quite a lot of activities provided by the hotel as I mentioned previously. Coral Nursery experiences I.e: private guided snorkeling, coral & fish feeding, Coral Transplanting classes and underwater photography if the water is super clear. You can also rent sports equipment such as kayaks.
You can choose to go for the Rainforest Awakening Nature walk each day starting at 8 AM and the Rainforest After Dark Nature Walks, each day at 7 PM, both except Mondays.

We had a look at the Coral Nursery, though they didn't have a lot of underwater creatures. It looked a little shallow as well for snorkeling. I would love to go snorkeling in the sea though next time, if it's safe!

On the left of the Lobby, you can also find the Marine Life Laboratory, which was closed when we went to have a look, however, you can go in to have a look and read about the Marine Life as they have posters around! The Marine Life Laboratory is opened from 10 AM-12 PM.

Mealtimes were one of my favourite activities at The Andaman:D There's 'The Restaurant', where we have our daily Buffet Breakfast and the spread was AWESOME! We ate so much each day! They had sections for eggs, cold starters, cereal, hot food, drinks with alcohol, pancakes & waffles, and the awesome whole bread section!

We tried their pastas and pizzas for dinner as well and it was pretty good too!

Our Hearty Breakfast @ The Restaurant!
Traveller J Loved 'The Japanese Restaurant'. We had Teppanyaki and ordered some side dishes for one of our dinners. The chef Alex was really friendly and funny! He cooked our meal really well too!

JALA RESTAURANT
Last but not least.. Restaurant 'JALA'. I Love this Restaurant! It's simplistic whereby its all sand in the restaurant so you can either wear your slippers or take it out! At the same time, its so romantic and the food is awesome! The view from the side tables is fantastic!! We watched the sunset while having our dinner! Remember to book your table as well!
You can either choose the ala-carte menu, or choose from the selection of fresh fish/ seafood with the chef at the front. Choose a fish, and you get to have 2 mains as well as 2 sauces.  We had a black grouper and had it grilled with some spices. We also chose some squid and prawns as starters. I think our meal cost was around SGD$ 120 ish, which was pretty good for a wonderful environment and fresh food! YES! We sure pigged out when we were there, while ordering in room dining for suppers as well!:D What are mini-moons for!
Sorry! My Photos just don't do enough justice of that place-especially during sunset!:D

V BOTANICAL SPA (Link)
We decided to treat and pamper ourselves by trying out the spa at The Andaman! They gave us a couple's villa and it was wonderful! Imagine getting a treatment while listening to the waves go by, and the cooling breeze!
My massage was great! I opted for the Urut Melayu ( Traditional Malay Massage) as recommended by the reception staff as it's a deep tissue massage and it was RM 320 for 60 mins. Traveller J had the Holistic Gemstone Facial and said it was great especially having gems massaged around the face! It was RM 380 for 60 mins!

It was indeed a wonderful 4 days at Langkawi @The Andaman! I had one of the best sleeps at night, and was wonderfully relaxed after this trip to Langkawi! I would love to make a trip back again! This time, I'll stay a little longer and do some sightseeing and go around for seafood!:D

GOODBYE LANGKAWI!! SEE YOU SOON!

Hope this post give a little more information about Langkawi & Where to stay etc!

XOXO!
