ROME, ITALY IN 2 DAYS!

After Venice, We took a 3 hr + train to Roma- The Eternal City! I Loved Rome, although our short trip there! We took a whole day tour that we booked via Walks of Italy and it was AWESOME! We booked a whole day Rome city + Vatican Tour which people usually split into 2 days. However, due to time constraints we decided with that! No regrets! Our tour guide was very friendly and knowledgable. He told us stories and facts which were out of the ordinary stuff. It was really interesting! Loved listening  about the past Roman empire! Also, when in Italy, do wear Extremely hardy and comfy shoes!! You'll be walking heaps!

HOTEL:
SUITE DREAMS

We arrived in the late afternoon and was very pleased to find that our hotel was beautiful and clean! They even upgraded us to a larger room with a balcony!:D Thank you, Suite Dreams!

What's even better is that there is an awesome restaurant just a stone's throw away from our hotel! It's called Ristorante Target or Target Restaurant( Link). The ambience inside was really nice and quiet. Food was excellent as well as reasonably priced. We wanted to go back the next night to try out their lobster pasta which was their specialty but we thought we should try out another restaurant. What a mistake! Anyways.. here's what we ordered!

Seafood Risotto & Pizza!
Tiramisu
As we arrived pretty late already, all we did in our first night in Rome was chill in the hotel and eat!:D Made sure to be fully rested for our whole day tour in Rome the next day!

Day 2
As we effectively only had a whole day in Rome, and we wanted to see all the main sights, we decided to go for a tour so we wouldn't get lost/ go through the hassle and waste time on looking for directions etc. I went through quite a few tour sites but not many had a whole day tour! Great thing that I found Walks of Italy! It has even been highly recommended by Rick Steves the awesome travel guidebook author! We decided with the Rome in a day tour: Including Vatican, Colosseum & Historic Center. (Link) Traveller J and I really enjoyed ourselves on the tour and our tour guide from Walks of Italy was Fantastic!! Kuddos to him!
We met outside the Colosseum at 8.45AM and it was pouring so heavily!! Good thing for ponchos which were being sold outside the train station! We were standing in the station that the tour guides couldn't find us.. Thank God we went out to have a look and found them! They said they were looking everywhere for us! ha!
We had more detailed insights and stories thanks to our tour guide from Walks of Italy! Here's some of the photos!

The Colosseum, Rome

Inside the Colosseum
Once we were done with the Colosseum, Thank God, the rain stopped and the sun came out! We walked a short distance to have a look at the historic center (Pantheon, Trevi Fountain and Piazza Navona)
As we were walking, We came across this construction site, where I find particularly interesting and at the same time amusing! Our tour guide told us that construction had stopped as while they were digging, they found some marble remains built from long ago!! How cool is that! Our tour guide said the romans are as random as that! They will probably not decide to go ahead with construction. Not sure what they will do with that! Wonder what was this spot centuries ago!

Yay! Finally we were at the Trevi Fountain!! Traveller J and I threw a coin into the Fountain as with what everyone would do! We will come back one day indeed! The fountain was really such a beauty!

We even stopped somewhere for a free ice cream which was included in the tour! After the half day and arriving near the vatican, we were free to go on our own for lunch.
Traveller J and I decided on this cafe nearby which was pretty good.. I had the lasagna which was a little small.

Vatican City
When it was time to meet our tour group again, we gathered and were given headphones for our tour in the Vatican! We had to go through this bag check before going in! Bring a small bag for convenience so you don't waste any time here!
Vatican city is the smallest state in the world and it's surrounded by high walls within the city of Rome. The Vatican is run by the pope and they get quite a lot of their income from tourism! So here we are in a way supporting the Vatican city!:D
The vatican city comprises of the religious sites of St. Peter's Basilica, the Sistine Chapel and the Vatican Museums. There's just so much history and there's so many beautiful and famous paintings!

Here's some photos that I took!

That was the end of the tour! From there we were to find our way back to the city! It was a long and tiring day but we learnt so much!

We walked back to the Trevi Fountain to get a glimpse of how it looks like at night. We also almost walked the whole of the main city and went to the Spanish Steps to take some photos, but there was some renovations going on so we could only take it from the bottom with a large fence around it! I think this must be the most that I have walked in ages!! Thank God for good sandals!

After the whole lot of walking, we wanted to have a good meal which was along the way and found Restaurant Zeus on trip advisor. I have no idea why they have such a lot of ratings. The food was alright but the service was terrible. I wouldn't advice coming here if you are in Rome! BIG X

Day 3
After an awesome sleep after knocking off immediately when we reached our hotel the night before, we were off by train to the Beautiful Foodie & wine region of Florence!:D YASSSS!

XOXO! Till another day my awesome travellers!
